I was born in 1951 the son of an engineer in a small village in Hampshire.
After schooling I completed a five-year apprenticeship in the field of Radio, Television and Electronics, studying at Portsmouth Polytechnic and Southampton University.
I became a licensed Amateur Radio operator (G8MRB) and was involved in some of the first "fast scan" TV transmissions via satellite to Australia and Canada.
I have worked mainly in Broadcast and Corporate television travelling to many parts of the world maintaining, installing and lecturing on state of the art equipment used by broadcast company’s worldwide.
In the early 80's I started Airwave Communications Ltd a company in Cornwall offering my skills and experience in radio and electronics to Marine and Commercial companies.
It has always been my goal to advance technology but am also interested in how science has changed our world.
I have worked extensively in the middle and far east including on a series of TV quiz programs in Arabic for Saudi channel 2 TV.
In 1992 I started CueFX Ltd a company specialising is special effects for film, TV and corporate events.
I have had an ongoing successful career in the design and development of automation and control systems for visitor centres, museums, exhibitions and theme parks.
In 2015 I retired from the technical committee of the International Broadcast Convention after forty years of service.
I still design and repair electronic and electromechanical equipment but now, in retirement, I'm quite selective in what I take on.
I have an interest in sailing, classic cars, old machinery and enjoy extensive trips away with my girlfriend Joan.
